What price security?
Taking our regular look through the motorhome forums, this week we came across an interesting thread from someone who had just bought a new £57k motorhome. They were surprised to find out that insurers expected them to fit a Thatcham Cat 1 device (alarm/immobiliser) and/or a tracker, whereas the vehicle only came with a Cat 2 immobiliser as standard. The poster expressed some dissatisfaction that they were being expected to pay out over £600 for an alarm, and possible a further few hundred pounds on a tracker. What was really interesting was the reaction from other posters – nearly all of them were amazed that the owner of a motorhome valued at over £50k was not prepared to spend a bit more to properly protect their investment. We couldn’t agree more.
