The Queen gets Grand Tour in Motorhome

The motorhome has, of course, always been the only choice for those wanting to travel in true luxury and style, but now HRH The Queen agrees! On one of her final Diamond Jubilee visits around the UK, Her Majesty was treated to a spin in one of Bailey of Bristol’s top motorhomes, the Approach 760 SE, nicknamed Mavis for the day.

A Vehicle fit for a Queen

The Approach is one of the most popular motorhomes of the Bailey range, boasting six-berths and a modern interior. At an on-the-road price of just over £45,000 it’s an idea motorhome for larger families or just a couple who value a bit of space. The fridge-freezer, oven and gas hob are all essentials for the modern camper, but it’s unclear whether Her Royal Highness made any use of the cooking facilities!

Supporting British Brands

A more serious side to the Queen’s visit was to show her support for British manufacturing firms like Bailey of Bristol. The Ashton-Value based firm are one of a few manufacturers left in the UK and it’s great that such public support has been given to these important strongholds of UK manufacturing. As a motorhome user, it’s great to know you can buy all you need at home, but many economists also see export and manufacturing driven growth as the way out of recession.

Yet to Place and Order

Bailey are still awaiting an order from the Royal Palace but, as Sales Director John Parker remarked – we all know the Queen doesn’t carry cash. Though it is reported she seemed genuinely impressed with the vehicles and the Approach might make a beautiful addition to the driveway of Buckingham Palace, it’s difficult to imagine the astronomical motorhome insurance quote that would come with the royal motorhome.

It’s good to know that the UK is behind the British manufacturing industry and the motorhome industry and it’s surely a great honour for all involved!
