Guide To Touring the 2024 UEFA Euros In Your Motorhome or Campervan

Looking to experience the excitement of the 2024 UEFA Euros unique and thrilling way? Touring the tournament in your motorhome or campervan could be the ultimate trip, combining the thrill of the game with the rush and adventure that come from the freedom of the open road!

We’ve compiled some helpful advice for touring this event in your motorhome or campervan!

Plan your journey and book campsites in advance

First and foremost, before you start your football adventure, you’ll want to map out your route, book campgrounds and find suitable parking for your motorhome or campervan near the location venues. During big sporting events, campsites get booked up pretty quickly, so book campsites well in advance to ensure you secure a spot during the busy times.

Packing

When preparing for your trip make sure to pack all the essentials: your bedding, clothing, toiletries, cooking supplies, etc. Ensure you bring any necessary travel documentation and importantly your match tickets, you don’t want to get all the way to Germany and realise you’ve forgotten them! It’s always a good idea, if possible, to have two forms of your docs and tickets, keep one version handy on your phone and in case of an emergency have a backup printed copy.

Don’t forget to pack your football shirts and flags so you can show support and represent your favourite team!

Learn the rules, regulations and customs

To stay safe on the road while abroad it’s a good idea to learn the driving rules and regulations for Germany. Research the road rules and speed limits for Germany, you will want to especially look into how the German Autobahn (motorway system) operates as many parts of the motorways have no official speed limit.

It is also a good idea to look at the laws and customs of the countries you are visiting, many tourist-specific guides you can find online are extremely useful to look at before travelling.

For example, unlike in the UK where pedestrians will commonly cross the road in non-designated crossing areas, in Germany, jaywalking is a finable offence.

Another helpful thing to know is in Germany cash is still the most common method of payment, many small businesses such as cafes, bakeries, and bars are cash only, so if you were planning to rely on card payments you may want to reconsider. You will also find carrying change extremely useful, especially if your vehicle does not have a bathroom, as in Germany few public toilets are free and require coin payment for use.
