Celebrating your Birthday in a Motorhome or Campervan

Celebrating your Birthday in a Motorhome or Campervan

Birthdays come but once a year, so that means we need to make the most of them when they do! If you’re looking for some birthday inspiration on how you can spend your special day, then we have you covered. It’s safe to say that some of the best memories are made on the road holidaying in your motorhome or campervan, so why wouldn’t you want to spend your birthday in one? Below we have suggested everything you could possibly need so that you don’t have to worry about a thing.

Breakfast

This is the most important meal of the day so starting your birthday with a delicious breakfast will be sure to get things off to an amazing start. Whether it’s a full English breakfast cooked in a Ridgemonkey pan or your favourite childhood cereal to take you back to your youth, whatever you choose, make sure it’s a treat. In our top motorhome gadgets, we have some handy motorhome kitchen essentials that will make cooking in your camper that much easier. If, however, cooking isn’t at the top of your list, then your best option may be to grab some pastries, jam and fruits and create a breakfast board that you can enjoy either in your motorhome or out in the morning sun.

Motorhome and campervan gifts

We think birthdays should be more about who you spend them with rather than what gifts you receive, but it’s safe to say we all like being spoilt with presents, especially if they are motorhome or campervan themed. If you’re looking for some last-minute gift ideas or even looking for a little treat for yourself then check out our Motorhome & Campervan Christmas Gift Guide that has ideas that are perfect not just for the festive period but all year round.

Motorhome Days out in the UK

Deciding how you spend your day will ultimately be the most difficult but with so many great places to visit across the UK let alone abroad you’ll be spoilt for choice. The UK is full of unique things to do so if you’re stuck for places to visit, check out our list below for some great ideas for your next motorhome trip.

Gardens

Strolling around beautiful gardens will always be a lovely way to spend your birthday and with so many across the country, you can research into what’s close to where you’re planning to travel to. Many public gardens in Britain are often attached to tearooms or eateries, ideal for a quick birthday bite to eat. Some of our top “free to enter” gardens in the UK are Temple Newsam Gardens in Leeds, Singleton Botanical Gardens in Swansea and Kirkharle Lake & Courtyard in Northumberland.

If you don’t mind paying an admission fee, then we recommend visiting the Royal Botanic Garden in Edinburgh, the Biddulph Grange Garden in Staffordshire and Levens Hall in Cumbria which is famous for its topiary.

Walking trails

A filming location for the Secret Garden, Star Wars (The Force Awakens) and Doctor Who, Puzzlewood located in the Forest of Dean, Gloucestershire is an ancient woodland with beautiful nature at every turn. Great for all ages that love to explore! A stone’s throw away you’ll find Symonds Yat Rock, which provides incredible views of the River Wye, and the Forest of Dean cycle centre will go down well with any keen cyclist.

The Fairy pools in the Isle of Skye, Scotland are another truly stunning place to visit in the UK. This Scottish beauty spot provides long walking hikes and incredible photo opportunities of the waterfalls that make up this natural wonder.

It wouldn’t be a walking trail list without mentioning the Lake District and one of our favourites is Grizedale Forest, especially when enjoying a staycation in the Autumn season.

Beaches

Who doesn’t love a day by the seaside? This can be a great “wallet friendly” day out as it can be as cheap or as expensive as you want it to be. Pack your own picnic to enjoy on the sand and save some cash or splash out on good old-fashioned fish and chips along the seafront. If holidaying with younger campers, then they will love building sandcastles on the beach or if you’re lucky there may even be other things to do such as mini golf, amusements and small rides. Our top coastal staycations include Newquay, Scarborough, Southwold, Cromer, Bognor Regis, and Devon.

Unique attractions

Always looking for something different, The Forbidden Corner situated in North Yorkshire provides exactly that. Suitable for the whole family, this one-of-a-kind attraction is a labyrinth of surprises; you’ll have to visit to see why it’s described as ‘the strangest place in the world.’

Popular amongst motorhome and campervan owners visiting Scotland, the Kelpies are two horse head sculptures both measuring 30 metres tall located on the canal. It first opened in 2014 and is a must see when travelling in Falkirk.

Portmeirion is an Italian style tourist village you wouldn’t believe is in North Wales. Cobbled streets, brightly coloured buildings and even a large chess set are just a few of the things that make this a unique birthday day out.

Birthday decorations

It goes without saying that space will be limited but that doesn’t mean that you can’t decorate the interior of your motorhome. If anything, this will do you a favour as you won’t need to buy as much! If you’re after some motorhome and campervan themed decorations, then our free printable birthday bunting will be the perfect addition to your party. Just click on the pdf, print at home before your trip and hang using either string or gift wrap ribbon.

Evening

If you fancy a night in or a night out, have a quick look online or ask around the campsite to find out the best local restaurants or country pubs. Supporting the locals and celebrating your birthday will be a perfect end to the day. Alternatively, if you’ve already had a jam-packed afternoon then you can always opt for an evening entertaining in your campervan or motorhome.

Making sure you’re covered

As an extra birthday treat this year to celebrate the start of the season, we are giving our existing and any new business customers the chance to win a GAP security tracker in our free to enter prize draw.

However you choose to spend your birthday, it’s important that you have the right insurance cover. If you would like to call the office on 0208 984 0666 and our friendly customer service team will be more than happy to help.
