Tips for hiking with your dog!
• Pack essentials: Make sure you bring food and water for both yourself and your dog, along with a portable water bowl and, more importantly, dog waste bags; you don’t want to forget those!
• Don’t push yourself or your dog too hard, remember to stop and take breaks along the way if it’s needed.
• Pick a route suitable for your dog’s fitness level; when looking at dog walking hikes consider what the length of the hike will be and make sure the terrain is suitable for your dog.
• Consider carrying a dog first-aid kit; if you don’t already have one check our social post on what to include in your dog first-aid kit!
• Before setting off on a hike, be sure to check the weather forecast as you don’t want to be trekking through muddy paths in the rain.
• When in nature, it is best practice to keep your dog on a short leash. This way you ensure the safety of both your dog and any local wildlife.
